Blackout Bruises

Some sped up, some slowed down is the story here. We’ve got three distinctly different remixes. The Miike Snow “Black & Blue” one has that dancified attitude and extra bouncy rhythm. Ra Ra Riot ‘s “Too Too Too Fast” gets the introvert treatment here as the Say Hi remix tones it down a little. And, well, “Sabotage” is given the bombastic bass treatment free of charge as not too much changes, but enough to move your feet. [I got them from Hejven, All Things Go and LFTF]

Couple Classics

Daily Dosage of Dope

Kid Cudi does some dope remixes. He took recent track “Dance Yrself Clean” from LCD Soundsystem and used the beat to rap over with his buddy Chip da Ripper. Oh, and Christian Bale’s in the intro too. [I got it from Sunset in The Rear View]

Antlernative

Here are some current alternative groups that did some remixing and getting remixed recently.

I’m a professed obsessor of The Antlers. I thought Hospice was one of the three best releases last year. It’s so raw and emotional. Darby Cicci of the band remixed a track of another skilled indie band, Freelance Whales. And DJ duo Buffetlibre, who have done quite a few remixes reduxed the albums best track, “Two”, and somehow made it better. [I got them from The Tripwire and SoundsXP]

Local Natives album Gorilla Manor is a lesson in laid back. This gurgling remix of “Wide Eyes” comes to us through Suckers, who have an album coming out June 8th. [I got it from PMA]

Pop & Hop

Trade-Off

Dayve Hawk does a lot of remixes. He put out this “Real Life” remix of Tanlines a few months ago in January. Just today, Tanlines returned the remixing favor by doing a tropical redux of one of Memory Tapes most popular tracks, “Bicycle”. Both of these are pretty great and put their own spin on things.
