Jungle Beats

26 May

Zomby is a mysterious beat builder and relentless producer. But he’s also a tremendous remixer. In an interview with The FADER, he said he works on a beat for 30 minutes then moves on. And that he has over 5,000 in his library. So I figure I’d put the spotlight on him for a post. (Most of these are a bit old, so if you’ve heard them: Sorry)

Here’s a tight remix that Zomby did of Gucci Mane’s “Boi”. Off Diplo’s remix tape of Gucci Mane’s material called Free Gucci, Diploe got some of the biggest names to contribute, this one is Zomby’s effort. His jungle-themed remix of this track slows it down a bit. [I got it from Fancy Sounds]

“Boi” (Zomby Remix)

This is an OLD one. Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion was one of the best albums of 2009. And “Summertime Clothes” was one of the best tracks on it. So Zomby took the liberty and added his influence to it. [I got it from Phase02]

“Summertime Clothes” (Zomby Remix)

Even older: This mix is probably the biggest warp from original to remix I’ve heard in some time. Zomby’s remix of Franz Ferdinand’s “Ulysses” has tropical drops and wonky “gloop” sounds that take the cake. It was streaming earlier, but now it’s d/l. [I got it from Illictronix]
