Berlin Wall

29 May

Here’s an old track from Crystal Castles’ first album that got a heavy facelift. It was already a blend of CC and HEALTH, so the fact that Midnight Conspiracy could do anything with it is astounding. [I got it from SPUR of the moment]

“Crimewaves” (Midnight Conspiracy Remix)

Deadmau5 is muy popular. He already makes great techno jams and plays gigantic festivals. So the next step is to have people remix your shit, right? Well maybe not, but somebody did. [I got it from Datasapiens]

“Facing Berlin” (Grifta Dubstep Remix)

Blackout Bruises

29 May

Some sped up, some slowed down is the story here. We’ve got three distinctly different remixes. The Miike Snow “Black & Blue” one has that dancified attitude and extra bouncy rhythm. Ra Ra Riot ‘s “Too Too Too Fast” gets the introvert treatment here as the Say Hi remix tones it down a little. And, well, “Sabotage” is given the bombastic bass treatment free of charge as not too much changes, but enough to move your feet. [I got them from Hejven, All Things Go and LFTF]

“Black & Blue” (Savage Skulls Remix)
“Too Too Too Fast” (Say Hi Remix)
“Sabotage” (Alex Metric Remix)

Couple Classics

28 May

I got some classic tunes that got some remixing done to them. Tracks from Marvin Gaye, Kylie Minogue, Prince, and the King of Pop Michael Jackson (RIP). Check them all out from the trolling legato of Marvin Gaye’s “Inner City Blues” to the technologic wonderland of Prince’s “Wanna Be Your Lover”. [I got them from KKS, Sundtrak & DJNODJ]

“Inner City Blues” (Drilla Remix)
“Slow” (Chemical Brothers Remix)
“Wanna Be Your Lover” (White Girls Solid Bump Beat)
“Rock With You” (White Label Mix)

Daily Dosage of Dope

28 May

Kid Cudi does some dope remixes. He took recent track “Dance Yrself Clean” from LCD Soundsystem and used the beat to rap over with his buddy Chip da Ripper. Oh, and Christian Bale’s in the intro too. [I got it from Sunset in The Rear View]

“All Talk”

Here’s another remix featuring a new LCD track. This time it’s “Drunk Girls” remixed by Holy Ghost!. Definitely more dance hall inspired and up beat even through it slows down the lyrics. [I got it from Dailybeatz]

“Drunk Girls” (Holy Ghost! Remix)

Cut Copy is a pretty great electro synthpop duo and Hercules and Love Affair make some quality nu-disco tunes. So let’s mix the two together and make a downright glittery, shimmery remix. [I got it from Red Threat]

“Far Away” (Hercules and Love Affair Remix)

Here are some current alternative groups that did some remixing and getting remixed recently.

I’m a professed obsessor of The Antlers. I thought Hospice was one of the three best releases last year. It’s so raw and emotional. Darby Cicci of the band remixed a track of another skilled indie band, Freelance Whales. And DJ duo Buffetlibre, who have done quite a few remixes reduxed the albums best track, “Two”, and somehow made it better. [I got them from The Tripwire and SoundsXP]

“Killer Whales” (Darby Cicci of The Antlers Remix)
“Two” (Buffetlibre Remix)

Local Natives album Gorilla Manor is a lesson in laid back. This gurgling remix of “Wide Eyes” comes to us through Suckers, who have an album coming out June 8th. [I got it from PMA]

“Wide Eyes” (Suckers Remix)

The Big Pink came into 2010 pretty hot off the success of A Brief History of Love and they just put out a free EP that features this oOoOO remix of their track “Tonight”. [I got it from MOKB]

“Tonight” (oOoOO Remix)

Pop & Hop

28 May

While The Killers may have lost Brandon Flowers to a solo career, here’s an old remix to keep their pop danceability alive. Armin Van Buuren…you already know is one of the most storied techno DJs of our time. So you can’t go wrong. [I got it from R2N]

“Human” (Armin Van Buuren Club Remix)

Rihanna’s ripe for remix as well. Her most recent single “Rude Boy” is chopped up and thrown in the dubstep machine to get a little bit wonkier. [I got it from The Noise Collective]

Here are some remixes I came across while browsing a random blog yesterday. Needless to say, I’ll be frequenting it from now on as these were essentially throwaway mixes of Lupe Fiasco’s “Fighters” and Clipse’s “Virginia”. [I got it from Squeegie Sounds]

“Fighters” (Mr. Scribbles Remix)
“Virginia” (Mr. Scribbles Remix)

Dayve Hawk does a lot of remixes. He put out this “Real Life” remix of Tanlines a few months ago in January. Just today, Tanlines returned the remixing favor by doing a tropical redux of one of Memory Tapes most popular tracks, “Bicycle”. Both of these are pretty great and put their own spin on things. [I got them from P4K and GvB]

“Bicycle” (Tanlines Remix)

“Real Life” (Memory Tapes Remix)
